The foam surrounds have a life expectancy of approximately 10 to 15 years, depending on amount of usage, dry or humid climate and speaker location (direct sunlight dries out surrounds).

The most common problem with older speakers is deterioration of the outer foam surrounds on the woofers and some midrange speakers.

If your speakers are still functioning but are unusable because of the damaged surrounds, That Old Retro Store can replace the surrounds, restoring your speakers to original or better sounding condition for another 15 years.

Having your woofers and/or midranges re-surrounded is generally more cost effective than buying new speakers or buying new woofers. More importantly, the original woofer is designed to match with the cabinet, crossover and the other parts, and most times finding original replacements for your speakers is nearly impossible.

Our speaker technician takes great care when replacing the surrounds on a speaker to insure proper alignment, positioning, movement and using the right parts so the new surrounds fit exactly. The process takes time, patience and skill.
